OpenAir Tours Announces
The
2012 OpenAir Members Exclusive OpenAir Conditioner VI

Come to the Mid-Winter “Convertible Optional” Members’ Party!

WINTER SCHMINTER – Time to Party! The world’s greatest, friendliest, most fun-loving open-air touring group cordially invites you to extend New Year Celebration to the end of the month! Yes, it’s the sixth annual OpenAir Conditioner! We organized this “laid back” OAC indoor cold weather festival because our seasoned touring-pros said 12 months between convertible family get-togethers was just way too long. It’s a chance to hang-out, swap road stories, tell tales, catch-up with OAC friends, welcome new members, plan summer outings, learn where OpenAir Classic VII will be headquartered and get first shot at the prime hotel reservations for August 16-19, 2012.

TWENTY YEARS ON THE ROAD! Highway hardened veterans who’ve been touring with us for years, know that this tour will mark twenty years of open-air touring. It started with the old Wisconsin Convertible Classics of 1993-2005 and hit a higher gear with the new OpenAir Classic Tours starting in 2006. Your OAC Crew has noted that some members like to arrange a friendly wager on “where we’ll go this year.” Though we don’t get involved in that, we do offer some advice: If you’re betting on destinations, although we had a great time, it’s not Madison, southwest Wisconsin, or Eau Claire. Yes, we loved those places, but we’re eager to ramble new roads. We’ve found more spectacular vistas, twisty turns, wide-open spaces, friendly natives and bucket-list check-offs for the 2012 tour. We’ve vowed that this tour will be one of the best ever, so we hope you’ll join us to hear the news January 28 th and have the opportunity to book your rooms in the headquarters hotel!

Your OAC crew has been working hard, making lists, checking check-points, arranging hotels and preparing for the best OpenAir Classic ever. Madison was outstanding in 2011. They set high marks for hospitality, fantastic roads, comfortable quarters and all-around touring fun. It will be a tough act to follow, but we promise there’ll be nothing less in 2012!

We’re nearly ready to lift the curtain so be there January 28th to lead the charge!

SATURDAY Jan 28th
9:00-10:30 Program at the Concourse Hotel:
“BADGER BONEYARDS – The Eternal Rest of the Story”

Anyone who read the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel travel section in the past quarter century will likely recognize the name “Dennis McCann.” He poked around every little berg and by-way for the paper, sending back great reports about Wisconsin people and places. In the course of his travels, Dennis made a point of exploring the state’s cemeteries. He discovered some pretty amazing stories about those buried there and many are included in his new book, “Badger Boneyards.” On Saturday morning (9:30 AM –room TBA) he’ll take us on a lively illustrated tour of some of Wisconsin’s famous and infamous departed. Copies of his book will be available for purchase.

After Dennis’s presentation you can explore the city, shop or choose the optional scenic route to Mazomanie and the “Old Feed Mill” where we’ll have our OAC Announcement Luncheon Banquet.

Some of you may also want to stop at the (2011 OAC Tour Checkpoints) Shoebox or Black Earth Meats on the way. The Old Mill cash bar will be open at Noon for early arrivals.

The Announcement Banquet will be prepared by the Old Feed Mill chefs and begins at 2:00PM. Please indicate your menu choice on the registration form. We’ll meet surprise guests, award door prizes and announce the 2012 OpenAir Classic VII destination! After the food and fun, head back to Madison for more fun in the Capital City – and evening socializing in the Governors’ Club Lounge.
