Letter to the Editor - Eau Claire Leader Telegram
On behalf of 440 delighted, impressed and exhilarated convertible lovers driving 218 topless automobiles, we want to commend the thousands of friendly people who gave our tour a warm welcome to your beautiful city and spectacular Chippewa Valley. We enjoyed four days of touring in an area that ranks with the Midwest’s best. .
We hope you know what an outstanding attraction you have in Carson Park and the Paul Bunyan Museum. They’re real treasures. We also want to especially commend Michael Strubel of the CVB. His persistence and follow-up resulted in our initial site visit and his timely assistance made this one of our finest tours in 17 years of open-air touring. His assistance with every aspect of the tour serves as a shining example of how to welcome people to your city.
We heard your corner of Wisconsin had a wealth of natural beauty, excellent parks, twisty roller-coaster roads and dozens of outstanding businesses that welcome travelers. We were not disappointed. To the Chambers of Commerce, Convention and Visitor Bureaus and friendly people in Eau Claire, Augusta, Osseo, Independence, Mondovi, Chippewa Falls, Cornell, and Boyceville – you know how to do it right! . We appreciate your hospitality and will long remember your smiles and waves.
Special recognition should go to the staff of both the Plaza and Holiday Inn Hotels. Even with 440 people checking in within just a few hours, service was friendly, efficient and delivered with a smile.
Finally, we recognize the excellent work of your Leader-Telegram reporter Rob Hanson. His story did a superb job of capturing the unique esprit de corps and camaraderie of our touring group.
We ran into many convertible owners who asked how to join the tour. We welcome anyone who loves convertibles of any make or vintage. Check our website at www.OpenAirTours.com for membership information. We would be delighted to have Chippewa Valley folks with us in 2010!
To our new friends in Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley, like our group, you’ll never be topped!
